FTL delivers talk to NSPCC

We at Families Together London were so proud to have been contacted by the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). They held an open discussion and invited us to give a general talk about what we at FTL do, how we came about, what changes have happened within the LGBT community over the last number of years and how things are moving forward in that community.

The response after the event was extremely positive and Stephen Nutt who is Head of Strategic Projects and Communications (Partnerships) was so delighted the talk managed to go ahead. Stephen is also the Chair of the NSPCC’s LGBTQ+ staff network (Pride in the NSPCC’s Colleagues and Children - PINCC).

Sometimes a blip occurs on these computer arranged events and my microphone was not able to be activated so I transferred onto my smartphone and we continued. Not quite what I had anticipated with me crouching on the floor instead of the usual backdrop of my bookcase. Needs must and all went well.

Below are two helpline sources which Stephen has provided for anybody needing help.

NSPCC Helpline

The NSPCC Helpline is staffed by trained professionals who can provide expert advice and support. We’re here if you’re concerned about a child, if you’re a parent or carer looking for advice, or if you’re a professional in need of information and guidance: www.nspcc.org.uk/helpline

Childline

Childline is the NSPCC’s free and confidential helpline service for children and young people, available 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Children can contact the service on the phone or online. Childline is there for any issues children and young people are facing, including issues around sexuality and gender identity. There’s also a wide range of advice on the Childline website: www.childline.org.uk
